David Hawkins   David Hawkins
President
CouleurNB
Dieppe, New Brunswick

David Hawkins is a Maritimer by choice and Montrealer by birth. His career in the field of marketing communications spans over 40 years. In 1978 he and his wife  Lorrie Bell-Hawkins started a two-person advertising and public relations firm, Hawk Communications Inc., in Sackville, New Brunswick. Over the next 23 years they grew it into one of the Atlantic Region's largest integrated communications firms with about seventy-five employees. "Through the commitment, loyalty, creativity and support of numerous Hawk employees and their families, freelancers, consultants, suppliers and clients - we managed, as a team  to grow the firm to become a pretty good medium sized advertising and pr agency by Canadian standards," says David.

During the 90's the firm moved its headquarters to Moncton while maintaining small satellite offices in five other centres. Since its inception, Hawk served hundreds of clients including larger enterprises such as McCain Foods, Irving, NBTel, Moosehead, Ganong, Sabian, Tourism New Brunswick, the City of Moncton, Enterprise Greater Moncton, PattersonPalmer, Rogers and Enbridge as well as a wide variety of thriving local enterprises. In the fall of 2001 the firm was sold to outside interests.

At present David continues to participate to the field of marketing communications. He is President of CouleurNB, an operating division of Colour Creative Persuasion and the CCL Group. As well, he operates his own consultancies – Kristaeli Communications and Nouveau Communication Stratégies Inc.

Additionally, within the private sector, Mr. Hawkins is a member of the Board of Trustees of PDM (Pizza Delight, Mikes, Scores, Baton Rouge) Royalties Income Fund and is a Board member of EPC (Polycello) Inc.

Beyond his private-sector corporate roles Mr. Hawkins continues to be an active volunteer, well known for his philanthropy and support of numerous social, educational and cultural organizations. He is a member of the Boards of Laubach Literacy New Brunswick, the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (ACRI) and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Recently, he co-chaired the successful School District 2 “Bestsellers” library campaign and was a member of the campaign cabinets of the Moncton Hospital’s “Healthy Returns” and ACRI’s “Discover” campaigns. As well, he is a past Board member of both the Atlantic Provinces Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Governors of the University of New Brunswick, The National Advisory Council of Mount Allison University, the New Brunswick Arts Foundation and Canada World Youth/Jeunesse Canada Monde.

After living in Sackville, NB for over 30 years, in 2007 David, his wife Lorrie and their wheaton terrier, Scout, moved to Dieppe, New Brunswick.
